Gynaecomastia Correction

Gynaecomastia correction is a procedure that addresses enlargement of male breasts – a common condition that can affect men of any age, causing physical discomfort and emotional distress.

Gynaecomastia can result from hormonal changes, weight gain, genetics, or certain medications. Men may experience excess fatty tissue, glandular enlargement, or a combination of both, leading to breast protrusion, asymmetry, or puffiness around the nipple. Beyond physical appearance, gynaecomastia can cause discomfort during exercise, self-consciousness, difficulty wearing certain clothing and embarrassment. Surgery aims to restore a flatter, firmer, and more masculine chest, improving both confidence and physical comfort.

Mr Mathur’s approach combines precision and safety. During consultation, he assesses the type and extent of tissue enlargement and recommends the most appropriate surgical technique. This may involve liposuction – used to remove excess fatty tissue while preserving chest contours, or direct excision – for firm glandular tissue and excess skin, or when nipple repositioning is required. A combination of these techniques may be used in order to achieve optimal results for larger male breasts, or more complex cases.

Incisions are strategically placed in natural chest contours or along the areola (area of darkened skin that surrounds the nipple) to minimise visible scarring. Surgery is typically performed under local anaesthetic with sedation or general anaesthetic, as a day case procedure.

Frequently asked questions

Incisions are carefully placed along the natural contour of the areola or chest folds. Scars typically fade over time and are discreet.

Recurrence is uncommon when excess tissue is fully removed, but a permanent outcome may not be guaranteed. Maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle helps ensure long-term results.

Mild discomfort, bruising or swelling is normal in the first few days and can be managed with prescribed pain relief. You will be advised to use a pressure garment for 4-6 weeks after liposuction.

Light activities can usually resume within 1-2 weeks, with more strenuous exercise and weight training recommended after 4-6 weeks, depending on individual recovery.

Male breast reduction requires precision, symmetry and an understanding of masculine chest aesthetics. Mr Mathur’s decades of experience ensure natural-looking outcomes.

Your journey begins with a thorough consultation with Mr Mathur, who evaluates the type and extent of tissue enlargement and discusses your goals. A personalised surgical plan is developed, including technique, recovery and aftercare. Surgery is performed in a safe hospital setting.
