Liposuction and Lipofilling

Lipofilling is a versatile technique that uses a patient’s own fat to restore volume, enhance contours, and rejuvenate tissues. One of Mr Mathur’s signature procedures, this popular treatment can be used on the face, breast, and body, and is offered at our London and Essex clinics.

Lipofilling can address a range of age-related or anatomical contour concerns. On the face, it can restore volume to cheeks, temples, under-eyes, and lips, smoothing lines and improving facial symmetry. For the breasts, it can enhance volume, correct asymmetry, or restore shape after surgery or pregnancy. Mr Mathur successfully uses lipofilling to correct the breast deformities and asymmetries secondary to scars from breast conservation surgery, radiotherapy changes and breast reconstruction. On the body, fat transfer can reshape areas such as the buttocks or thighs, improving contour and proportion. Using the patient’s own tissue, it provides a natural alternative to implants or synthetic fillers.

Mr Mathur performs lipofilling with meticulous attention to tissue quality, volume and symmetry. This procedure is performed in two parts. Firstly, fat is harvested in a controlled manner via gentle liposuction using a cannula from areas where excess fat is naturally present – such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or buttocks. The fat is then processed to purify and concentrate healthy fat cells, removing excess fluids and debris. Once prepared, it is strategically injected into the target area to achieve smooth, natural results. Use of a pressure garment is advised to help smooth and support the fat donor area.
The procedure is tailored to each patient’s anatomy and goals. Depending on the area treated, lipofilling is performed under local anaesthetic with sedation or general anaesthetic, typically as a day case or short-stay procedure. Careful planning ensures minimal downtime, natural-feeling results, with good graft take, and long-term tissue integration.
