Warts and Verrucae Removal

At Kirbha Clinic, removal of warts and verrucae is performed by Mr Bhagwat Mathur.

Warts are small, rough and dry growths that are the same colour as your natural skin tone. They are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), commonly appearing on the hands and fingers. Verrucae are a type of wart (known as Planter warts) that develops on the feet, often causing pressure, discomfort, or pain when walking. Many verrucae will have small black dots in the centre, surrounded by roughened skin. Many warts and verrucae will not resolve naturally, and can be contagious on contact. Persistent or troublesome lesions can benefit from expert, consultant-led removal at Kirbha Clinic.

Procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic at our clinics in London, Essex, Cambridge, and Norwich, using techniques tailored to lesion type, size, and location. Methods include excision, curettage, or cryotherapy, depending on clinical assessment.

Mr Mathur often sees patients who have already used over-the-counter remedies or have had cryotherapy without any benefit, or are experiencing recurrence. His approach is surgical which ensures radical removal, rapid healing, minimal scarring, and low recurrence rates. Many patients benefit from same-day consultation and treatment, offering convenience, efficiency, and reassurance from a highly experienced surgeon.

Frequently asked questions

Procedures are performed under local anaesthetic, so treatment is virtually painless. Some mild discomfort or tenderness may occur during healing, which can be managed with simple pain relief. Mr Mathur ensures gentle technique and patient comfort throughout.

Visible improvement is immediate after removal, though full healing and skin restoration can take 3-5 weeks. Recurrence in the same location is uncommon.

Minor redness, swelling, or tenderness is common. Planter wart scars can be painful on pressure. Scarring is typically minimal, and serious complications are extremely infrequent.

Keep the area clean and dry, and follow dressing instructions. Use of moisturiser on Planter scars and protective footwear are advised. Follow-up appointments ensure healing is progressing safely.

While removed lesions generally do not return, new warts or verrucae may develop in other areas. Regular skin monitoring and prompt assessment can minimise recurrence.

Every patient at Kirbha Clinic benefits from consultant-led care at every stage. Your journey begins with a detailed consultation with Mr Mathur, who assesses the warts or verrucae and recommends the most suitable removal method. Many patients can be treated on the same day under local anaesthetic, minimising disruption and ensuring safety. Following the procedure, clear aftercare instructions and follow-up appointments are provided to support healing and monitor outcomes. With clinics across London, Essex and East of England patients receive expert care close to home, combining decades of surgical expertise with a personalised and reassuring experience throughout their treatment.
